business support services for entrepreneurs in rural Cambodia
The Roksi Conference 2024, hosted by Mission Alliance Cambodia, emphasized the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to provide practical and tailored support for micro and small businesses, including self-employed individuals in rural Cambodia.
During various sessions, including Roksiās experience sharing, discussions with rural entrepreneurs, and conversations with local partners, a consensus emerged: one-off capacity-building activities may not effectively serve the needs of micro and small businesses in rural areas. Those business owners require flexibility in their schedules, opportunities to engage in activities beyond their businesses, and a consistent income to live daily lives. These needs often go unmet when they must travel for physical capacity-building sessions. Ongoing follow-up and individualized support are crucial for helping them navigate their business growth effectively.
The conference, held at Raintree in Phnom Penh on December 11, 2024, brought together nearly 100 representatives from various business support organizations (ESOs), including government agencies, NGOs, private companies, and financial institutions.
